One thing you might try on labeling, is to write the room name on the floor of each room in large letters with a magic marker. Then each time you go to take a of something in that room, take a picture of the name written on the floor first. That way you know what room each batch of photos is from.

It seems like it's taking forever to get the trusses. They are supposed to be delivered next week.

I have been able to get the propane tank installed, the septic system and the front and back porches/patio's poured. And, the conduit for the power is installed. Total of 1300' with 450 of that going to a neighbor that is also building.

The down side.:mur:
The Health inspector gave us 4 criteria to meet for the septic system to pass. The first one contradicted the last one but we followed his instruction to the tee except for the first criteria. Well, he failed it and said the whole leach system needed to be lowered 1 foot. It's total BS!!! I read his instruction to him and his reply was; "I agree it was confusing and poorly written, but I can't pass this off". So I get to do the leach field again. To be clear the sewer from the house and septic tank and the line to the distribution box are fine. Just the leach field needs to lower. Still a royal PITA.

Here are a few pictures of the progress.

Yesterday's tractor time involved covering up the sewer line and septic tank since it passed. Don't want to give the inspector any more time to look at it and find something wrong.

Beautiful setting. I love seeing these pics. Even the random construction pics show off that view. You must be elated.

Hate hearing that about your inspector and having to redo the leach field. I would have thought that the contractor installing it would have known how to do it and if there was any questions, contacted the inspector for clarification before moving forward. Some inspectors can be very difficult, but in my experience, the more questions you ask of them, the more helpful they become.

Was this the same crew pouring your porch that did the rest of your concrete work? Why didn't they use chairs on the rebar? It's a shame that you paid for rebar, but it's just laying on the rock and not doing anything.

Eddie,

While I agree we should have called, here is why we didn't.

This is what he wrote.

1st criteria, excavate to 5' and backfill with 1' of ASTM C-33 sand then install the domes.

4th criteria, sand cannot be lower than 4' and the components of the system must be between 24"-48".

We put the system at 3' splitting what he wrote. So how do we dig to 5' and not put sand below 4'. That is why we dug it how we did.

However in hind site we should have called when there was a question about it. I would have been more involved but I was putting in the electrical conduit at the same time.

There was a guy pulling the rebar up as they poured, not the same as chairs but I did see him pulling it up.

Thanks Tractor shopper,
The view was a big factor in buying the land.

Right. Back in the day it seemed like inspectors got one bite at the apple. Now some want a second bite, just make sure it stops before they want a second apple.

Sorry you had thes problems Lynn. There's enough things to be stressed about in general construction without these.

Hope smooth progress is on the horizon. :)

Richard it was upsetting for sure. I just wanted to get it buried and move on. The company I had dig it is going to come out and fix it at no cost to me, so that's good, but still a PITA for sure. (and not fair to the company)

I'm looking forward to getting the trusses, then fast progress should happen. Our builder wants this house done before Dec 21st. He is going south for the winter.

I hope he can make that date!!! Will be exciting to see progression that fast.

Our weather is killing us. Get one or two days of work per week. If this continues for another month our house won't get enclosed before winter. Glad I have a home to live in so I ain't complaining!!! Just "hate" losing that bet..... :)
