I think you supply VDC to the fuel solenoid and leave energized to run, and remove VDC to stop. Should not have to apply VDC to stop. Philip.

Some of the older BX's need 12VDC to stay alive. The more recent ones now require 12VDC to shut off. There was a major flame ware over this last winter (and maybe other times). I was in your camp as well, but I've come to see the light. It is terribly dangerous to rely on 12V to maintain power (picture pulling a full wagon down a hill and the power drops). Maintaining power is more important. Most of the big ones run this way also.
