Ok . i've taken it apart ,cleaned it up inside and put it back together again, and tested it not on the tractor and it spun like a normal starter at a good speed then put it on the tractor and engaged the bendix then connected to the battery . All it did was sparked ,didn't even try to turn over . I've got no idea what's wrong with it . The new starters are too expensive at the moment . The engine is a bit stiff to turn over but i thought it would at least try .
Thanks
Toby

Sorry "Terminales" as in both that go to the starter.

No, no. Apply the positive to the red +. The yellow start terminal is a flat spade on top that comes from the ignition switch.
Do not attach anything to the blue terminals.

Locate a starter/generator rebuild shop. They can make it like new.

But i haven't got a working solenoid , if i engage the starter then connect positive to the blue terminales will it start the tractor ? or will it damage it?

So you are pushing the Bendix gear into the ringgear and then applying power to the motor? Big sparks and excitement, but it won't hurt the motor. Not sure it will turn over though. Too many variables. From what you have said previously, either the motor is not in great shape or your engine is not real free.

The only way that can happen is if the return spring in the Bendis is broken/missing.

In this case, the OP says that he has no solenoid, so he is manually engaging the Bendix

Hey
Thanks for your replys. So i did what you said and turned over the engine by hand and it was quite stiff but i thought the starter would turn it but because there's nothing wrong with the starter i put some diesel in the cylinders ,because i took the injectors out to clean them , and checked the oil circulation then every few hours turned it by hand to loosen the engine and so i tried it with the starter with no injectors in it and it turned over the engine. But when i put the injectors back it it just did the same as before and sparked . Should i do the same as before and turn it by hand till it starts loosens again ? Thinking about buying a solenoid .
Thank you for your help , it's really appriciated .
T
