Starlink

Thanks, I got it out. Looks like a 1" hole is needed to pass thru the wall. Any suggestions on how to seal the hole in the wall?

I used clay like stuff, I used same around my service entry cable.

If you pass the smaller end thru only 3/4” hole.
Seal with caulking/silicone if you didn’t get the SL passthrough.

Thanks. Amazon offered an idea while I was looking for something else. There are the "in-use" electrical outlet covers that are supposed to be waterproof while accommodating a plugged in cable. I'm going to try that. Whatever I end up with will be visible to everyone. I have some of that electrical putty and foam, but I don't think either will take paint very well.

I saw various Cable penetration seals for various thickness of walls. Personally I too will seal with silicone outside and Dap Tub and Tile seal ( white) inside. Been lazy about getting to the permanent roof mount and wall penetration. But winter is coming and running the cable through the open window will not be acceptable in the coming months.

Don't forget to leave a drip loop on the outside to help shed water, and reduce the tendency of water to wick in along cable penetrations.

Personally, I am a fan of the wall penetrations covered previously in this thread that are a solid piece of pipe or conduit, as it reduces that chance of water accumulating in the wall. I try to site cable pass through in weather protected areas to minimize the weather stress on the seals. YMMV.

All the best,

Peter

Starlink, Asus Mesh, Wyze V3 Camera, No Remote Access...

I have a rectangular dishy using the ethernet adapter connected to my Asus Mesh system. I did not put the SL router in bypass mode and things have been working fine. I bought a Wyze V3 cam to identify where some mouse are accessing a mechanical room in my basement. I connect the Wyze cam to the 2.4 on my Asus mesh and everything works fine(I can see the live feed) when I am home. When I am out and using cellular, I cannot access the Wyze Cam via the phone app. Maybe it is the cellular signal but I suspect it may have something to do with not putting the SL router in bypass mode or maybe it is an Asus router setting. With little to no knowledge of networking but based on what I have read in some other posts here, I suspect there is some interaction between the Sl and Asus routers that is causing the issue. Aside from putting the SL router in bypass mode and then trying again, any suggestions on how to problem solve this issue? Thanks .....

I would think putting sl in bypass shouldn't matter.
My camera app has 2 ways to connect to cameras, local, when I'm on the same network as the cam, and remote, when I'm not on my home network that the cam is on.

I'm sure this has been brought up before. You cannot access devices on your home network with Starlink from remote location (such as cellular connection) because of CGNAT. However, there are ways around it. See this article:

I have used PureVPN in the past. I actually signed up for a promotional "lifetime" subscription for X amount of money. A few years later I was billed the "monthly" subscription rate. After contacting customer support, they said I should have read "the fine print." The "lifetime" subscription only lasts 5 years. So I dumped them. I now use Nord, but may switch back to Pure if it means I can connect through to my Starlink network.

Thanks for the link to the CGNAT article. That helps to explain why I cannot access the camera from a remote location. Working on it.....
