Nothing like hearing how their so concerned about expanding into other countries that they will get to us later than thought.

Yes, I just got an email today, too. When I then checked the date in my account which had been mid to late 2021 before jumping to late 2022 to early 2023, is now changed to mid 2022. An adjacent, unpopulated cell (well, one home), has a mid-2022 order delivery date for a new order. So, I guess that means that I am back of the pack for my cell.

Just checked my Starlink account. Now it says:

"Starlink expects to expand service in your area by late 2022."

That's a full year pushed back. 18 months if you consider it first started as mid-2021.

A lot of satellite internet providers have a bad, or checkered, reputation. Didn't take long for Starlink to catch that virus.

I'm sorry y'all are getting delayed. Since I already I have it I'm glad they're doing that instead of overloading the cells and slowing everything down. I'd say it's good to have a company that cares about it's existing customers more than signing up new ones. That is something that differentiates them vs other sat and cell phone companies...

The Starlink "sorry" email passes the buck and lays blame on a shortage of computer chips ... nothing about preserving service quality. If that's true, why wasn't there any notice from Starlink long before now? Do they expect anyone to believe this was some sort of surprise that snuck up on them?

A chip shortage is an easy bogeyman-- I'm not sure I even believe that. Credibility lost is hard to regain .....

I got the email today and was hesitant to open it, expecting a new date of mid to late 2022, instead of the mid to late 2021 I have been told since Feb 2021 but to my surprise and elation it states they are expecting to service my area in December of 2021. But I have been disappointed before and I am sure it will happen again. Until I get the email that says they have charged my credit card and the stuff is on it's way I will not believe it. But here's hoping they actually come through.

Thanks for the positive post. I expect I’ll be wandering around the yard soon starring at the app. I am more fortunate than some with my current Windstream DSL at 12mb. It just irks me that $30 of the $100 monthly cost is for a landline that I don’t want or use and the associated fees and taxes.

I got the same email and after reading your post I had to double check to make sure it said 2021 and not 2022. It still does but I'm thinking it could be a very mean mistake and is actually supposed to say 2022. Hope I am wrong.

I'm not giving up on Starlink, I probably will go with them when they are available. When I tested my T Mobil this morning I actually hit nearly 300 gbps but it will drop during the day although so far the slowest I've seen is 75 gbps. Up load is 50-75. The T Mobil store tech told me they were limiting the number of people on each cell tower, I was lucky to qualify.

Just tested Starlink here, 150 down, 7.86 up. It's clear cold night so no weather, just a lot of users I guess.

No they are not worried about taking care of their customers. 14 million at $99 a pop and counting is what they are worried about.
Has anyone actually been turned down from signing up because the cells future capacity had already been filled. Even when all the satellites are up there will have to be a capacity limit or service will be severely degraded.

Too bad for me. I figured that out already, just by looking at my address info as a new sign up. But was hoping the queue would have different results. That means I will be over a year in the queue.

This process could be handled a lot better.
