Starlink

I live in northeastern PA. When I go on the Starlink home page and enter my address, it also says "early to mid 2022" However, when I sign on to my Starlink account, it still says "mid to late 2021" ??

Unfortunately, I suspect the dates have slipped well into 2022.

Same boat for us I fear. I am aware that a few of my neighbors, less than 10 miles away, have the beta up and running.

I may be cancelling my order, as that appears to be the only message I can send.

It is very frustrating where I live. I do have decent cell signals, but no vendor offers a package without serious limits on speed and use.

Quite a racket going on with the cell providers.

Why would you cancel your pre-order unless you had another better alternative? It might be 3-6 more months of waiting but if you cancel it will be much longer (or zero chance if you don't sign back up).

Because in a year I might not be here. That is the status now from my address.

That is the difference between your reservation "mid to late 2021" and a new preorder today "early to mid 2022".

@riptides why cancel? If it arrives in time, you can use it, if you are moving, you can either change the address or sell it if you have better access in your new location. I suspect Starlink stations will be a hot property for some time, barring some disaster.

All the best,

Peter

When i put mine in, it still has mid to late 2021, my account says the same thing. Glad I preordered, but it cannot get here soon enough. frontier is one of the worse isp out there. They just refuse to do any upgrades and are just putting band aids on the line hoping someone else will solve the problem.

Someone else will... A competitor like Starlink. :)

I have two properties on the wait list, with messages indicating service to each property by late 2021. (CA and NV)

To test, I just entered neighboring addresses of each property, like a first time inquiry, and got these messages:

"Starlink is currently at capacity in your area, so your order may not be fulfilled until 2023 or later."

"Starlink expects to expand service in your area by late 2022 to early 2023."

Aaaaahhhhh .... this wait list thing has been trending worse, not better ..... hope my HughesNet morse code key holds out ...

Starling update:
Still working great even with many hrs of obstruction per day. I finally ordered a roof mount which will get it to almost no obstructions. It's is weird to have a good internet connection at home.lol.

That's really too bad that the timelines are slipping. But I do give them credit for trying to provide quality service for the customers they do have instead of trying to ramp up too fast and causing problems in service. I'm sure the chip shortage stuff is a big impact for them, both for sats and dishes.

Mine said the same, mid to late 2021 and address was much later. Then i got email to place order for equipment.

I just checked on my pre-order. I’m still getting this:

Starlink is targeting coverage in your area in mid to late 2021.

Fingers crossed.

My date is still mid-to-late 2021 but my account page is now showing an account number that I had not seen before. Also is allowing you to shop, not sure if you could actually place an order. I'm hopeful!

My date is still mid to late 2021 after I sign in and it gives you the option to shop for different mounts but it will not let you order yet. Hope that means getting close

Mine just slipped from late 2021 on Friday to this today;

"Starlink expects to expand service in your area by late 2022 to early 2023."

This is a huge disappointment to put it mildly. No cell service either.

I just finished laying new Ethernet cables and a radio point to point link for Starlink, so that it would be done before winter. Talk about counting chickens before they hatch.

All the best,

Peter

It says early to mid 2022 for me. That will work well since the house will not be up until then anyway.

Sattelite launches are no small deal. Delays are common in the industry. That, and just the technology itself is why things are slow. Massive new undertaking takes time. In some ways, i am surprised and impressed Starlink is at the point it is already!

Patience young padwans; patience. Good things come to those who patiently search.

For someone who is not knowledgeable about networking, can you explain the radio point to point as it relates to using Starlink?
