Nice building, Steve. I'm looking with interest, mine should be going up late spring/early next summer. Are you near Houghton Lake/ Clare area?

Mike,

That I don't know. Those poles are buried 4' deep and there's an #80 pound bag of crete with each one. By the time I got there on day 2, the contractor had set all the poles, so I didn't get to watch the process. Haven't had a chance to get back since they started the roof decking, so I don't even know if that's done yet. Gonna swing through tomorrow and check so I can see if it's shingle time.

Did get to watch him bulldoze out the topsoil though. Had to go down about 2 feet to hit sand. Then he dug a deep hole off to the side and moved sand out to fill for the barn and filled the deep hole with the top soil. Now I've got a garden spot with top soil 9 feet deep. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Houghton Lake is about an hour and a half Northeast. Clare is due east about an hour. I'm due North of Grand Rapids and Due east of Clare. Little town called Chase.

Well, I wasn't too far off. I enjoyed your pictures, I grew up in Cadillac, and the trees and rolling landscape in the background looked like the area. I really miss the woods in Michigan. My wife is from South Dakota, and last summer we went back to Cadillac for my son's wedding. She felt "boxed in" with all the trees! Said "you can't see anything" because of the trees! Thanks for the pics, I enjoyed them.

shf, you gonna grow that garden in layers? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Should of left that hole empty and installed your pool/ice-skating rink! Von could give you pointers on that project!

Sounds like the same old story, you can't see the forest for the trees keep getting in the way.

Cadillac's about 20 mintues North. Place is growing fast. Bypass just opened a couple weeks ago.

Wish I'd had the camera when the diggin' was going on. All you could see was the top of the dozer cab in that hole. Don't know about plantin in layers but I should be able to grow really BIG carrots. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Shingles are supposed to start going on today and the slab is supposed to be poured. Weather's clear and sunny today and tomorrow with highs in the 60's. Change comes Sunday and it'll be snowing Monday. Nothing like cutting it close /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
