Spring tooth harrow question

A neighbor has an 3pt spring tooth harrow (8-ft) for sale that would fit my Mahindra 5525 perfectly.

It's like this KK field cultivator

I'm trying to decide whether this type of harrow would come in handy for haying work.

I know that chain harrows sometimes are towed behind a tandem disc to smooth the seedbed.

Anyone out there use one of these spring tooth thingys in his haying operation?

Well, it was too good a deal to pass up--$200 for an 8-ft 3pt field cultivator with 17 shanks, points are OK.

Northern Tool wants $699 for a KK 6-ft field cultivator.

In answer to your 1st question yes. Most people in my area use one after disking to level and mix the soil before seeding. They also work good at poping small rock out that you wouldn't want the seed bed.

Good for busting the crust if you get a rain while fitting up a field. Usually get em at auctions for a song. I think I paid 45 for a 6 foot pull behind. saw a 16 foot for 125 this spring.

For the soil we have on our farm a cultivator is a royal pain because they are always dragging stones up to the surface.
The one you bought looks in good shape and should give you a lot of service.
