Spring Tooth Drag - restoration project

Hello,

I just purchased a 12' 3 section spring tooth drag. I also bought an extra for spare parts. Plan is to replace all hardware, straighten all bent parts, paint, and reassemble.

So far I have all the spring tooths and adjustment levers off. The coolest part is most of the original nuts and bolts are coming apart, but the replacement bolts are snapping.

I found out I need 21 spacers for all the moving parts. They are 7/8" o.d. x 1/2" i.d. x 3/8" thick. Does anyone know where I can purchase these? I'm ready to go to my local machine shop and see if they can make them.

1/2"ID X 7/8" OD X 3/8" W Steel Zinc Solid Lightweight Set Screw Collar | Fastenal

If you really want to get fancy, you could put a grease fitting in the set screw hole.

You could:

Weld the worn part of the hole and grind it back to size

Weld on a 7/8 shaft collar or 7/8 washer(s)
Shaft Collars| Fastenal

Mark and drill holes in a 4x4x3/8 angle iron, then slice off 1.5 inches, repeatedly

Take a good one to a machine shop and say "Make 9 more like this." (I hope it is an ag-oriented shop, not a race car jewelry machine shop)

If it could be closer to 1/4 inch thick, there are some electrical strut angles that might be made to work.

Somehow I erased my last message.

I was asking about making new "L" brackets.

Bruce, I made a mistake in the post. (tried to edit and it erased).They are 4" x 4" x 1.5" wide and 3/16" thick, not 3/8". My buddy has a welder so that seams like the cheapest solution. The holes are oblonged from wear and tear.

Time for an update. I had the "L" brackets made at a machine shop. They came out perfect. So after a little painting, I started the reassembly. Right now, I'm stuck figuring out the release handle for the spring hook adjustment.

But enough of talk, here are a couple pictures.
