I wish it grew down here. Some grow it as an annual I guess.
I'm only one state over from CalG, but I can't get it to grow here no matter what I do. Tried it in several places in the yard but didn't do very well in any of them. Apparently doesn't like the soil or something.

The rhubarb grew quite well when I lived in Bethlehem. About 3 houses north of the library.
So it's not the cold winters ;-)

It doesn't mind the cold (depends on variety, most likely). Where I grew up makes VT seem warm. Latitude was about the same as Green Bay, but out on the plains away from moderating effects of large bodies of water.

-30 was not uncommon and occasionally, -40. We sometimes went a month or two below freezing for highs. Summers still got up over 100, but not typically for extended periods.
