The granite I'm spitting is glacial debris left in drumlin formations. I have found the long holes do work better but the results are still varied. Usually I can get one good section from the center of the rock.:D :D

Man that sounds like work! must be some way to use a tractor and make it easier..:D

The tractor does make it easier. It's used to move the rocks around. :D :D

Drilling the holes is not hard and neither is placing the feathers and wedges. Tapping the wedges is not hard either. :D In fact this portion of the work is very rewarding when the hammer note goes from Ching to chunk and a crack appears between the drilled holes.:D :D

Shoot, if we had some a them purdy rocks around here we would showcase them some other way. But to ya'll they're just laying all over ain't they. I don't have any rocks and wish I did, some people say they grow rocks. Where's the happy median people :)
