Splitting granite rocks

The granite I'm spitting is glacial debris left in drumlin formations. I have found the long holes do work better but the results are still varied. Usually I can get one good section from the center of the rock.

Man that sounds like work! must be some way to use a tractor and make it easier..

The tractor does make it easier. It's used to move the rocks around.

Drilling the holes is not hard and neither is placing the feathers and wedges. Tapping the wedges is not hard either. In fact this portion of the work is very rewarding when the hammer note goes from Ching to chunk and a crack appears between the drilled holes.

Shoot, if we had some a them purdy rocks around here we would showcase them some other way. But to ya'll they're just laying all over ain't they. I don't have any rocks and wish I did, some people say they grow rocks. Where's the happy median people
