New Holland TC24DA
Hello again...I haven't been around for a while...no PC. So I had to borrow a fiends laptop again.

The question I have, before I split my TC24DA to fix a hydraulic leak, is there anything specific to look for? It has leaked slightly(a drop) since day one. Now with 8 hrs on it, it's worse. I've already checked the pressure tap fittings and they are dry and tight.

The source of the leak is the weep/vent hole, with the head of a cotter pin(?) sticking out. It's located at the bottom of the bell housing, just behind the engine oil pan.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer, since this will be the first time I've split a tractor.

If the tractor only has 8 hours on it, why are you not having the dealer fix it under warranty?

I agree with Jerry.
I would not split that tractor myself while under warranty, let the dealer do it.
Splitting it yourself while under warranty may void your warranty if you have problems in the future.

My thoughts exactly

Even if the tractor was purchase from a dealer a long ways away I would at least take it to a local dealer to split the tractor. Once you lay a wrench on that tractor then you could loose the warranty.

Just my opinion that is all.

Yes, I agree with all of you...let the dealer handle it.

Unfortunately, I can't. This dealer(local) has shown it's incompetence and I won't give them another chance to burn me.

My judgement was way off base regarding this dealers ability to improve and correct it's problems. I didn't buy my 21 from them(5 yrs ago) and now I see I shouldn't have bought this 24 from them. I could probably bring it to the dealer I bought the 21 from, but that's a 2 hr+ ride away.

Maybe someone here can refer me to a reputable and honest dealer in CT...anyone???

Anyway, I don't have a problem splitting this machine, it's just the time it'll take to do it. I am fully confident and capable of doing this type of work, so no worries there. NH did allow me to perform warranty work on the 21, but not a major repair like this. If they decline, fine...I'll buy the needed parts and do it anyway. I've already have started to disassemble, and looks fairly easy...just alot of R&R work.

There is no way you should have to fix the tractor yourserlf. I am a Case IH dealer in Woodbury, I wish I could tell you to bring it over but I would not be able to do the repair under warranty. Why don't you send me an email and let me know where you are located. I am sure NH corporate would not be happy with the position you have been put in. Bob

Go to New Holland's website and plug your address into the dealer locater. It will show dealers in a fairly wide radius. Who knows, the store I work at may turn up. locater

Thanks for the reply Rick, I was hoping you would see this.

As far as the -locator- I already checked. My EX-dealer is listed along with a few others. I have never heard of the others and was hoping to get a first hand referal from someone in CT.

Might as well bring it to the dealer I bought the 21 from. However, I'd rather not involve another dealer for this particular warranty work, unless I knew for sure of their credibility. Doing it myself would give me 'peace of mind'. Having to split a NEW machine does involve a certain finesse and I'm sure you'll agree.

Any chance you've seen any leaks in the area I mentioned? I've stripped all the body panels from the tractor, but haven't disabled it yet...meaning it will still run. I want to add some tracer dye and run it first. This way I'll have a positive trail of the source of the leak.

TC Boomer I would still think splitting the case might involve a bit more time than a 2 hour drive each way to your dealer, am I wrong here? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Is my math wrong?
