All,
I read over the recent post about slow Hyralics, I too have a similar concern. My loader seems to have slowed over time. I have changed the fluid at 25 hours [total hours is now 65] but never changed the spin on filter. Does anyone know of a cross reference number for this filter? Is there anything special needed when changing filter? Do I simply unscrew the old on and screw the new one? Or do I need to do something else?

Thanks

You have a spin on hydraulic filter? Where is it located?

Yep, it is located below the loader valves, right near the starter. Oh yeah it is a 224

Interesting. I have seen a pic with what looks like a spin on cartridge down in that location but I thought that was a recent change. I guess it depends on what options are ordered from the factory.

As I mentioned in the other post on hydraulic improvements, I bet it is a spin on strainer(can with #100 mesh screen element).

As for crossing this to a domestic part, I would do so with caution as an incorect part there(too restrictive) could do harm to the pump.

That looks like the hydro filter that are on the Nortracs that Northern Tool sells.

So if thats the case, how many others out there have something similar? Has anyone tried to replace it with another non-jinma filter? I have not taken it off to see if there is a strainer inside, do you think there is anything to removal/installation othere than unscrew/rescrew....

Thanks

The filter just unscrews like an oil filter. Most likely you will have to drain the tank first.
Nothern tool sells a spin on SUCTION strainer 149 micron which is 100 mesh - sutiable for the suction side of a pump. Or remove the strainer (its not a filter) and take it down to a hydraulic shop to see if they can match it.
