Spencer\'s On The Highways & Byways!

This morning, as I worked diligently for the citizens of my community, my phone rang. When I picked it up, I heard this voice say, "Hi Garry. This is Spencer from TBN!" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Wow, what a surprise! He went on to say that he was going to be driving through my area later in the day on his way to Minnesota, and was there any chance that we could meet for a quick dinner or snack? Well of course I said YES!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So we made tha basic arrangements, and we agreed to meet. Later in the day he called again and we finalized and set the meeting time and location at one of the local eateries.

What an enjoyable hour or so we spent together. We talked about a wide range of topics, but always seemed to gravitate back to tractors. Hmmm, I wonder why? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I felt like I was catching up with a long, lost friend. I don't believe there was ever a lag in the conversation or any of those uncomfortable "pauses" that can occur when you're speaking for the first time with a new acquantince.

He's headed up to Minnesota, although I'm not sure exactly where. I know he mentioned Minneapolis, so maybe some of you Golden Gophers could make contact with him. I can tell you this much. You won't regret taking the time to meet with him and have a nice chat. Very enjoyable and entertaining guy. I'm already looking forward to the possibility of having him stop by on his way back home. If we can work it out again, he might even get a home cooked meal this time! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh yeah, there will be proof of the meeting posted at some time in the future. There was a picture taken of the two of us, but it was with his camera. You'll just have to wait for him to get home to post it! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Spence, thanks again for thinking of calling me. It was great, and we need to do it again REAL soon! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Garry, it was great meeting you in person. It is like catching up with an old friend. Although we had never met before, we probably knew more about each other than people that we went to high school with.

Murph, I'm up in Lakeville working right off I-35 at exit 85. Let me know what your schedule is like.

Frank - as I said, it was great. This is the third time that I've had the chance to meet TBN'ers, and each one of the occassions has been a wonderful experience. It sure makes you realize how many nice people are out in the world! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

PJ - Of course he'd need to answer that question, but I'm betting it might not work very well. You see, he's got this little girl at home that, without him really saying it, is obviously the apple of her daddy's eye. I think he doesn't like to be gone from the family any longer than is absolutely necessary. Can't really blame him for that, can we? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Garry,

Any idea when he will be in MPLS? I work in a suburb less than 10 minutes from downtown MPLS. I spend about 50% of my day driving to clients located throughout the Twin Cities so there's a good chance I'd be able to meet Spencer.

I've met five so far...Ed king, GSS, 5030, Spencer and cerberus, I think in that order!

So far, I've been fortunate to meet seven....Boondox, Rowski, Alan40, Sugarmaker, Corm, Rancar, and Spencer.

Oh, I don't want to forget that I missed meeting Von by only a few minutes too! We made the effort, but things just didn't work out for us that time. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Why, they're all so nice, that I'd even be willing to spend a whole day with any of them!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (or even MORE time!)

I would certainly encourage any TBN'ers to make the effort to meet some of the others. It's fun and even informative. You'll have some very nice memories. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
