When I was young I said something not so nice about my friends mom. He told his dad who called my parents house, asked to speak with me, then told me I'd better drive down to his house and apologise to her or he was going to come to see me. I was there in about 5 minutes. Afterward they invited me in for dinner and he said he was glad I made the right choice. I said "me too" while trembling. :)

Since then I've learned to respect my elders more.

It turns out that he did the same thing to a fully grown man at her office. He was 6'4" and muscular so that may have helped. How tall are you, op?

I have a simillar problem, I'm the 2nd to last place on a long private gravel drive. Signs don't seems to help much people just ignore them. I've talked to the couple who lives at the end and THEY drive slower now but some of their company are disrespectful and drive way too fast. I have a 3 yr old daughter to worry about. I stopped taking care of the potholes a while back because it caused people to drive faster, now I'm trying to figure out a discrete way to CREATE potholes. I think I'm gonna try putting and old childrens bicycle beside the drive and see if that makes people slow down. Also It seems like the UPS/FED EX drivers are some of the worst speeders.

well heres an update: 10:40pm wife and i are in the kitchen when i hear a lone shot sounded like a pistol. so close is rang the chimney linner for our wood stove I jumped in my boots grabed my flash light and a side arm as well. i eased out the door and looked up the gravel road there were two vehicals there. They were there for a while then they sped off. i shined the one car to get a better look as it sped off. I had seen the truck at the neighbors before but the neighbor is out of town. Wifey convinced me to call the cops and tell them what happend. They sent someone out and i made a statement of what happened. I have never called the sheriffs office before do you guys think i did the right thing?

im now worried the ppl that where on our road know where we live and the fact that i shinned the light on them may $#@ them off.

these are the grandsons friends again i know. The cause for concern is that the grandson and grandma our supposedly out of town.... and they were at the neihbors house.

NEVER EVER let anyone know you are upset. No talking, no observing, no dirty looks etc. Stay STEALTH, you can do more my being autonomous than being the squeaky wheel.

Number one, by popping your head up and letting "them know" you are upset will set you up for retaliation - this society is ramped with retaliation, and at that kids age, he has more time to think of ways to get mack at you than you can imagine.

Keep your heal LOW, and do what you want to do in the "shadows"

You have plenty of good suggestion, but the ones I would NOT do is the ones that can be traced back to you. Doing anything to the road will come back to haunt you if they see you doing it.

I would stop making the road nice as this is the thing that has caused your problems. You made a perfect drag strip for the "boys".

Just be careful, you may correct one problem and cause yourself greater problems.

I concur! Never let anyone know they're getting to you. Especially close to home. That way what the fire starts, you're not suspect. Not that fire is the answer. Just a metaphor. Or is it?

Actually wish the kids would understand the danger. I do understand your annoyance as it is in your face!

My brother died at 18 years old from a young driver who lost control and spun out on gravel. A young girl died also. There is nothing you probably can do to make them stop or understand. I would ignore them (the best you can) and not maintain the area where they spin out. Soon it will be too bad for them to try.

Just a thought and sorry you are having to go through this.

Jim

turns out the guest that were at her house were not welcome. and the grandson is on vacation with his buddy. She is having her contractor go and lock up her house and check on things. She told us if we see anyone to call the sheriffs dept. They found out who shot last night they said he is crazy.
The grandma said her grandson is going to more than likley be moving back with his mon in mid aug.
She was appologetic to us and told us she wanted to have a gate put up on the road so that this kind of thing doesnt happen. I told her we can go one step futher and put the gate up by our property so that anyone that passes down the road needs a clicker to get in... We will see what all happends with this. I think we will have peace and quite back...

I think you are wasting your time with Grandma. She already raised kids so worthless they can't even take care of her grandson, and she obviously hasn't gotten any smarter as she got older. Grandma is a doormat who lets kids do anything they want, and you aren't going to change her. They best thing you can say is at least she isn't living in the gutter like the kid's parents.

I also wouldn't be displaying any guns or letting the neighbors inside your house if you want to keep your stuff. Druggies figure what is yours is theirs, and the grandson can see when nobody is home and knows your habits. I hope you have a good safe.

I think Larry hit the nail on the head. Hang in there...it won't be too long before the law's after him and he's locked up for something stupid and be out of the picture. That's the way it is around here, too.

Lay low, be patient. Make peace with yor neighbors, you will sleep better at night .
His time is coming and you don't want any part of it. Like another said, "stealth and anonymous".
I have done it the other way, when I was about 30 and I pushed it to the edge and almost went over the cliff....metaphorically speaking.
