Hi,

I am trying to create new paddocks on circa 3 acres of land which are currently overgrown with weeds\brambles etc.

I was thinking of harrowing the existing area, rolling it, broadcast seeding, rolling again to create the paddocks. I have read online that a seed drill is more effective which I do not deny but am wondering what would be the best option for me.

If I went for my original method I could use the broadcaster for fertalizier as well, harrow could be used for collecting the clippings when topping and roller would be handy for mole hills etc.

Where as a seed drill would only be used ocassionally and I am not covering a major amount of land.

Anyone have any advice on the way they would go?

Thanks,

Kevin

I sprayed w round up. Waited a week. Roto tilled. Chain harrowed. Broad cast the seed. Prayed for rain.

Yes the spreader can then be used for other things and they are cheap.

You can likely rent the seed drill though. So that may be a better option if your plan is to do it all at once.

I would kill off all the current vegetation though first.

Simply that sums it up Spray, till, broadcast, chain harrow, hope for rain
