I have a problem in not being able to start the Kohler engine on my woodsplitter. It worked fine all last season and have not started at all this year. When I turn the starter switch there is nothing. When I bypass the switch and hot wire the Solenoid to the starter, the starter will turn the engine but it will not fire. I pulled the plug and there is no spark when I hot wire it. What are the possible sources of the problem? I changed out the coil, condenser and checked the points. SOS I am having a Hip Replacement in one month and need to split a ton of wood ahead of that. Thanks in advance.

Are you getting 12V to the coil with the key switch on? Check it with a meter or test light.
