Sometimes having all the tools just sucks

I feel your frustration as everyone of my 30 minute jobs turns into a five hour job.

And that's without friends or beer helping.

In my estimating mind, I'm Superman, but in real life, I'm closer to a slug.

Mud, help me... use some paragraphs so I don't lose you in the verbiage. That said... your story sounds like the old saying, 'when it rains, it pours'. But the sun will come back out! :D

Sorry, I type like I talk. Lots of bad spelling and pronunciation and 90 mile a minute. Sometimes I proof read, and sometimes I just click. This is one of those times I just clicked. I'll try to do better.

On another note, (see I can make another paragraph, I just picked up the new spindle housing, of course instead of fixing the mower, here I am playing on the computer.

I've finally gotten to the point I've got almost all the tools I THINK I need. However about a third of them are in Northern Virginia, the rest in Mississippi :(

I need tool lockers with a worm hole to the other site. I try and plan what projects I'll be doing at either site BUT.

Example - I've got a GOOD set of Milwaukee Hole saw bits, about a $100 set, in Virginia. In Mississippi I've got two "beater bits". Recently in Ms I had to make a hole bigger than the beater bit. So I drilled a hole with the beater bit, enlarged with jig saw.

And I fully understand the OP's, and others, the problems of what we termed "mission creep". I go to tackle a small problem and pretty soon I've spent the whole day working on other associated fixes that crop up.

I was gonna say there's no such thing as a "30 minute job".

Then I realized that would be the correct term for my "just take a minute" fixes. :)

Oh and beer doesn't shorten the time. It just makes the ordeal more tolerable.

I've gotten to where if I rush my "just take a minute" last for hours... I very seldom have help and never have liked beer.
