I have a Farmtrac front end loader that I bought to take care of 12 horses
( some boarders ) and spray pastures for weeds etc. It only has 472 hrs on it and yesterday it seems the transmission/clutch stopped working. No matter which gear you pick, when you let out the clutch it just "whirrrrrrrssss" and doesn't catch the gear. I decided to look up who might be able to repair it- ( we live in Williamston NC -not far from Tarboro) .. and NOW I FIND ALL THIS on the internet basically telling me I'm screwed... It fiqures.. my luck..

Does anyone know ANYPLACE that still does warranty work? My "powertrain" is definately under the 3 yr guidelines.. I 'bout went broke this year on the **** Hay prices in NC - -I still need more peanut hay for Cows till my pastures come in - and I cannot spray pastures or move round bales with a Broken tractor .. ANY IDEAS/HELP ??? Much - Much appreciated. Thanks

Details?

Model would be helpful. You may not need a dealer........

Check your range selector lever.

There's been a few folks reporting problems with the gear selector linkage coming loose (shearing the roll pin, I believe).

Do you have shuttle shift? My JM254 does, its on the left beside steering wheel. It never felt very positive going in or out of forward reverse. But if it is on the verge of going in it makes the exact sound you describe.

By the way FarmTrac is Jinma. There easy to fix and parts are well priced and easy to find.

It's a 27 HP ( Small ) front end loader. I also see in my local paper today that there is an Auction on FARMTRAC stuff at the manufacturing place in Tarboro NC.. on April 25th at 10 am. Maybe I should just drive there and pick up the parts FREE ( and most likely go to jail ) since I cannot find anyone to repair them. Just my luck - since now after the drought last yr the grass is ACTUALLY COMING IN.. and I cannot spray it for weeds or mow it.. currently I have ropes up all over the property and turned the cows loose to eat it since I can't mow it. However they have a liking for my landscape plants too.. so that poses a problem.

******* The description you-all say ( sheer pin ) actually does sound like the problem.. I sheared a pin in a honda accord a long time ago... and it is acting just like that car did back then..
Is that easy ( and relatively inexpensive) to fix? Someone told me that the problem would be that the entire thing would have to be broke apart to fix- and that the hourly labor charges would kill me.. so - that being said??? I have a BIG BLUE YARD ORNAMENT, with tall grass and cows surrounding it..My original dealer that sold it- gave me a number, that NO ONE ANSWERS EVER.. for the past 2 weeks. They said they now sell Bransons- so they are blowing me off.. however they were acting "as agents" for Farmtrac when they sold it to me - so technically I suppose I could nail them for the cost of the repairs in small claims court- but really I just want my warranty honored and my tractor fixed/ grass cut and pastures sprayed.. is that tooooo much to ask?

****** Any Montana dealers yet taking warranty work that anyone knows of?.. Thanks for the help.

With the shift lever (the one to the right of the steering wheel) in neutral, reach down with your left hand to the lever that selects hi or lo and be sure that the lever is FULLY ... POSITIVELY ... ENGAGED in one of the two ranges (hi or lo).

Then, try putting her in gear.

If my suggestion doesn't work, read this. Especially the post from Slacker where he talks about using a nail to substitute for a roll pin. Your problem, if it still exists, could be solved with a 3 cent nail.

Whatever the outcome, you must come back here and share it with us for good karma to come your way.

Just like someone to come on here complaining about their tractor issues and never come back to update the thread. Why do they expect expert help without followin-up?

I certainly wasted my time reading this one. :)
