Congrats Harv,

She's a beautiful bride.

Did you have "the tractor talk" with your future son-in-law? You know..."if I ever find that you put a tractor ahead of my daughter's interests"....yeah, the one where he realizes the in-laws might be a little off. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Gosh Harv. Its a rare occasion that has you at a loss for words. I would have figured at least a full page narrative on that joyful occasion. I'll bet your smile was almost as big as hers. And best of luck to the happy couple.

A truly beautiful bride! I wish for her happiness. Hard to let go isn't it! Just yesterday they were babies.

She's a lovely bride. Congrats to the father of the bride and the new son-in-law. Does he have a brother, cause I've go a 20 year old daughter with no prospects and I'd like to get her married off so someone else can pay her college tutition (one more year to go and she tells me then she wants a Phd. looks like I'll be paying for a long time unless I can marry her off.)

Congrats, Harv. I was in your shoes a little over a year ago and I'm sure you can relate to this. Everyone who looked next to me saw a beautiful young woman in her wedding dress with her hair perfectly coiffed atop her head preparing to walk down the aisle.

I was the only one who saw a little girl in pink corduroy overalls with a page boy haircut chasing our dog around the yard.

I wish you and your little girl nothing but the best in the coming years.

Thanks guys.

She is a daddy's girl. My son in law is a fine young man.

He did pay the price though. They moved in together which I didn't much care for. But I was the good father and helped them out when the copper hot water pipe let go under their slab and fixed it myself and other stuff like that.

Son in law is a gear head. He races motocross, four wheelers, and just about anything with a motor. I don't understand why daughter would pick a nut like that/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

Son in law lusted to get into and run my tractor. I knew this. I could tell. It might have been the drooling every time she was out and he was around.

But he was the boy living with my daughter. I loved him cause he's a good kid. But it'd be a cold day in hades before I'd let him know it. And when I noticed the drooling if there were children around I'd put them in the tractor and let them drive around the yard and never offer him the same opportunity. He wasn't family.

The day after they'd announced their engagement he came by the shop after work. I got out the tractor. Put the backhoe attachment on her. Showed him how to operate it. And then sent him out to the back to learn how to dig a hole.

He came back two hours later with a grin you couldn't have taken off with a jackhammer.

Many years ago an aunt had pointed out to us that a woman should look at a prospective husband and notice how he treats his mama. If he treats his mama good then chances are he's gonna treat his wife good.

New son does love his mama. I like that. I've got a heckuva lot invested in his wife and feel confident he will treat her right.

Daughter used to get real embarrassed by dad when she'd go out with a new date. At the door as they were leaving I'd always say, "she's my pride and joy. I expect her to be treated accordingly."

At the wedding there were a couple of moments.

One was outside the hall waiting for the music we all know. Daughter was doing some deep breaths. I leaned over and whispered in her ear. "Remember, nice slow steps. We want them to have plenty of time to get their eyes full."

Then when the preacher asked who gave away this woman I piped up with "Her mothers and I do."

I then turned to the groom and looked him in the eye, had to look up, some of us are designed to take the wind, built close to the ground, he isn't, I am. I reached out and grabbed his hand in a man to man handshake and said, "She's my pride and joy. I give her to you without reservation because I love and respect you."

Needless to say the few dry eyes in the place weren't after that.

I go away for the weekend and look what happens!

Don't know which is more powerful -- my heartfelt congratulations to you and your family, or my surprise at seeing what an incredibly beautiful offspring you produced. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

All the best.

Morning Harv,

my surprise at seeing what an incredibly beautiful offspring you produced.

Some jobs you just can't do all by yourself./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Here's my youngest grandaughter. She's a California girl.

The old man all dirty is yours truly. Yesterday was one of those days. Up at four. On the road at four thirty. Shut down at seven. On the road until nine to get home for a final visit with the kids before they head back west.

The wood piece is part of a four by sixteen byfour foot long cedar beam that just screamed out at me that it was a horse for a favoritest youngest grandaughter at heart.

I haven't finished it yet. But as I was looking at the wood and listening real hard at it's wishes I saw naughty er uh knotty eyes./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

BTW does the sun still set just off the coast out there? We're taking a two week vacation the end of October. Right now the plan is up through Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, over through Idaho to visit friends in western Washington. I'm wanting to drop down along the coast to show Miss Glenda why all those folks in northern California are so different from the rest of us. Then we'll end up in Arizona for a day or two with my dad and home again.

Wow! Another beauty! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Must be some powerful beauty genes in her pool, not to be confused with the jeans you're wearing in that pict.

Yep. Seems to like taking a dip in the Pacific just before dark every evening. Like clockwork.

Hey, if you're gonna make it anywhere near the S.F. Bay Area on your trip, let me know. The odds of me being in town and able to break free are kinda small, but it would be worth a try to hook up long enough for a few handshakes and digital picts. Might have to start a new photo forum here called "How Strong Is Your Stomach?" /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Not sure what constitutes critical mass for 54 year old hunks o' man meat named Harv, but it would be interesting to find out. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

We might have to have a do Harv.

My wife is one of these rare people that has maintained her "childlike" without keeping the "childish". It's a hard thing to find in human beings and some other animals too./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I say that because she is such a pleasure to have adventures with. It's sorta like how much more fun it is enjoying things when you're with someone seeing it the first time.

I think taking a drive down one along the coast would be the kind of treat for both of us that it's almost too much to take a chance on not doing.

We are going to go to Washington State to visit the friends outside of Spokane. And some other friends are wanting us to to come by Reno to visit them. But as much as I would enjoy visiting them I would never forgive myself if I didn't share the beauty of northern California with my wife and the darn thing fell off into the ocean as predicted./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I'll update you as the time gets nearer.
