Hello I was hoping someone out there could help me with a problem Im having with my snowblower Im running a JD 950 with a old JD 666 snowblower everytime I approach a snow drift or deeper snow the blower wants to float on top rather then dig into the snow making it hard to get job done same thing with the loader. Hydraulic oil is good thanks.

sounds like the bottom cutting edge is tilted upward . I am not familiar with your unit but my blower on the fel will do the same if not tilted properly. If there is any adjustment the lower ( bottom blade ) needs to be level or even slightly angled down to create downward draw.

If this is a 3pt blower, try making the top link longer.

Another vote for the long toplink.
I keep my toplink short to start so that I leave a couple inches to create a base. That way it doesn't throw gravel. Once I have a base, I lengthen the toplink to get a better clean and also to bite better in the drifts. If I still have trouble with riding up a drift I will use the loader to take a bite out so the blower can dig in.

My jd 54 front mount snowblower does that too. All thought not as heavy as your 666, my problem is the snow it's self. It is wind packed so hard I can walk on it without sinking down. If that sounds like your problem, maybe a couple of suitcase weights tied on somewhere would help.
Does it help to apply some down pressure to help it dig in? The 54" blower mount on the 2720 can push down with enough force to raise the front tires off the ground.

Yes thanks, that is what I do also, but the OP has his the 3ph and can't do that, so I didn't mention it.
