Looking to buy one
Anyone out there using or used a 3pt rear snowblower with a New Holland TC 35,40 or 45 with a synch shift? I was wondering if it went slow enough in reverse without having to ride the clutch?
Thanks

If you're referring to a clutch tractor TC 40 TC 45 including T4060 all of these tractors have three ranges four gears, all transmissions are synchronized so you can shift while moving. The simple answer is yes not quite as good as a hydrostatic transmission that's the ultimate for loader and snow blowing work however you can easily find a gear ratio perfect for the situation the slowest is low range gear one you'll be creeping along. The only difference in the tractors whether the clutch is SSS meaning that you have to clutch between forward and reverse or EHSS where the tractor will clutch for you going forward too reverse I personally have SSS 4060 I have to clutch between forward and reverse I personally love it I'm just strange that way ;-) I would never have the other system I have a rear snowblower and I'm going out this morning to clean up the storm we just received last night, around buildings I can use mid range first gear and never have a problem with speed near buildings

I'm not sure about your machine but on our TD95D with the 12X 12 Sychroshift tranny, we can can shift within a Range "on the go ", but not between ranges.

I believe that's what I said? I can start off in midrange first gears and shift to second third and fourth while moving I just cannot change the transmission range from low medium or high while moving. I can also shuttle forward to backwards without coming to a complete stop I love SSS transmission :) for loader work, I tried that inching pedal just couldn't get used to it I'd rather know what the tractors doing when I'm moving forward with a load of material in the bucket just slip the clutch a little shell last ;-).

I have a TC40 with the sync shift and 3pt blower. 3 ranges, 4 gears per range. My snowblower is very new to me, but yes, I have had to put the clutch in when getting into snow about 2' deep. I was operating in 1st gear, low range at about 2300 rpm and I could see the snow was being pushed by the blower so I put the clutch in a few times and let it clear out. I was surprised actually - you know how slow 1st gear in low range is. I'm still getting to know my blower :)

Curious what size 3 point rear snowblower do you own? And 2300 RPM is not 540 I believe you're under running your snowblower and it's backing up 2500 RPM is 540 try that, in three years of using my 84 inch I've never once in midrange first gear had the snow back up or use the clutch to slowdown. 1500 foot driveway with storms leaving upwards of 28 inches of heavy snow, and at the top of the driveway state plow depositing a 4 foot wall never a problem, perhaps it's the size of snowblower being almost 34 inch cutting height or 28 inch fan or possibly increase PTO horsepower? I originally had a TC 40 DA hydrostatic transmission front snowblower 72 inch it through the snow further than my present setup smaller fan and faster rotation but with that transmission you would never overload it you could just slow down in a second and then pick right back up the only time I truly miss it is working around the barn yard with all the equipment parked in the lot take care

It's a 74" blower. I realize I am under 540 PTO speed. Of course, the faster the PTO goes, the faster the tractor goes in a gear drive. Not sure about the trade off there. I will certainly experiment with different speeds as time goes along.

It must depend a lot on the nature of the snow too. Today I was running in mid-range 1st and 2nd without problems, but I wasn't in very deep snow either.

When I did see the snow backing up behind the blower, the engine wasn't bogging down, just the blower not getting rid of it fast enough. At least that is what it seemed like. Mind you there was a blizzard going on at the time and that sort of cuts into what I can see and hear :D

Like I say, it's very new to me and I am still getting a feel for it. It's a time saver for certain compared to FEL only, I am liking that a lot.

I'm sorry you have it listed right in your profile six footer, as far as the speed increase with the 540 rpm it would be marginal but you'd be amazed how fast the snow blower spins, I try to run a little under 540 with light snow just not to hear the turbo screaming ;-) with heavy snow however it's right to 2500 RPM and no back log at the snowblower take care

I will try it out, thanks.
