When I relocate to my place on the lake I will have to clear a 1/2 km of laneway in the winter. The area gets much lake effect snow and constant wind. I am on the downwind side of the lake so I will have to clear the snow when it falls and then again when it blows off the lake. I know that a bad winter will mean that I have to dig out some drifts with the loader but an average winter snowfall should be no problem for a blower. I started out looking for a Lucknow blower and then compared it to an Agrotrend. They both seem like decent units. However based on what I read in the forums I have checked out the Puma. It has nicer features. I'm looking at the 54" model because it will clear the laneway in two passes. I have a hydrostatic transmission and 16 hp. Puma specs call for 15 to 20 hp. Does anyone else have a similar setup? Does anyone see any problems with this setup?

Here is what a rare big winter looks like in that neighbourhood. Those were typical drifts. Big drifts were much bigger that year.

I have owned both an older 48" Lucknow and a newer 48" AgroTrend. I found the Lucknow to be fragile and subject to breakage each winter.

48" is an ideal size for the B7100. If you go larger, make sure that the weight increase does not affect proper weight distribition on your B7100.

Thanks. Winter came very late so I have not bought a blower yet. At this point I think I'll look for a spring bargain, if there is such a thing. I'm shying away from the Lucknow and the Puma is a better machine than I need. How heavy is the agrotrend?

I have a 78" JRW on the back of a JD2240, and it handles the lake effect we get off lake Michigan. I had it shipped in from Canada in 2003, and have used it since that time without any problems. It may not be the best made, most expensive, etc., but it does it for me. I think JRW Enterprises is located in Ontario, and you should be able to find them for sale locally.

I have a B7100 gear transmission. I had a Woods 52 inch blower on it for one winter (Michigan) and it worked quite well. The front end loader seemed to balance it off fine. Only reason I got rid of it was I got a bigger tractor and traded in the 52 inch for a 60 inch blower. The weight of the 52 inch is specified at just under 700 lbs.
