Yes, agree the fence only helps.. for me it just means I don't have a 4 ft. drift to get through in the morning, rather only a few inches of snow/drifting, which I still have to clean but when I get home from work is better than before work. It also means less snow to deal with overall.

Same for me. I don't enjoy putting up snow fence, but it does the trick. Eliminates a lot of unnecessary work. The majority of snow stays the yard and provides a nice moisture saturation of the yard when things melt in spring. And the grandkids have a lot of nice drifts to play in that are away from the road and driveway.

Ok It is time I do something with regards to snow removal. I am still unsure what that "something" will be though. I can get a used 47" blower with quick hitch for less than $2k or a new one for $3k. I am also considering trying a plow. I looked at the John Deere 54" plow and also aftermarket FEL plows. Any thoughts or experience with any of these choices would be helpful.

Have been clearing my driveway with a 9' plow on an f350 for almost 20 years now. Bought a front mount snowblower for my tractor this year. Lets look at the good and the bad.
1 Heat in the cab of the truck. 1a need to register and insure the beast. 2a berms get taller than the plow snow comes right over the top and you need to "shovel" 3a snow you plow freezes and becomes the limit you can push it.
The tractor with the snowblower: Has worked like a charm keeping the snow away for the time that I have owned it. The one storm that dropped two inches of powder on a windy day took me to the neighbors paved driveway to experiment. It was real windy and things were going well until I got a face full of the white stuff. Ice cream frozen drinks and my new tractor can all give you brain freeze.

Plows are faster but they have their limits. Just depends on how much snowfall you get in a year.

Here in Central ohio area, you dont see anyone with blowers.
