Snow Removal On a Chip & Tar Driveway

After hours of web-surfing, I have found what I think would work:

This setup appears to be heavy duty - enough to handle the weight of the blade and FEL on float. But it is NOT a Woods accessory (per their tech support).

The curvature of the brackets seems way too precise (i.e. engineered) to simply be someone's fabrication. So, I am guessing that this is someone's accessory...but whose?

Does anyone recognize this assembly?

Oddly enough this concept is what I had in mind for general rear scraper work....For most maintenance issues that required scraper on property... As for snow, only get a little 2-3 inches at a time and don't need to plow.... Just settle in with case of chili, case of beer and a cord of wood for fireplace....

If your blade floats you don't need to float the loader and it applies much less weight on the cutting edge or shoes. I don't see how that would be a problem to a tar and chip drive.
Did you look through the thread or look at the pictures posted? Blade does not float. That's why he has to use the float on the loader. The blade is actually a dozer blade that's is being used as a snow blade.

First realistic comment in all this.... Not floating FEL probably reduces estimated weight on skid shoes/gauge wheels of plow by more then half....

One option I can think of would be to connect snow blade linkage direct to tractor chassis and allow it to float, using FEL to only lift it up (link with chain) for clearance for turns and other convinces of maneuvering during plow session.... This takes estimated 1500# of FEL out of equation...

No realistic if it's not accurate.

Problem is with the blade is it is heavy. That's why it cant float without digging in. That's why there are suggestions to put a wheels on it to allow it to ride on the ground.

Yep, I read the whole thread thoroughly. Did you? He asked to be pointed in the right direction. He also talked about buying new snow blowers. In my opinion the right direction is a blade that floats, whether he alters his existing blade or buys a proper snow blade that floats.

Did you miss the part about about connecting blade linkage direct to chassis and just letting it float [on wheels] and then using FEL to rise lower it.... It's the concept of what to change that is important, not about what he actually has ....

When I was a kid (50 yrs. plus ago), we had a very long and steep gravel driveway. My dad had an old stone-boat with a couple of "V'd" 2 by 10's. He'd hitch up our mare to the stone-boat and plow the driveway. Don't think we barely disturbed the gravel, but the driveway was plowed well enough that our 2wd car could get up to the house (and us kids had a great time too).
Mind you, I guess not everybody has a horse handy..... lol

My condolences on your tar-n-chip driveway.

A rotary broom attachment does a great job in spring cleaning the broken tar chips off your lawn.
