Snow chains, too close to the body

$400 sounds like "stealer" pricing. I spent about 30" on eBay and found these- Kubota L Series 2.00" Wheel Spacers (2) by BORA Off Road - Made in the USA | eBay

It seems I've seen them closer to $200. The

What's the recommended size? Looks like you can get them up to 5 inches. I am thinking in the 2-3 range.

In what cases is it critical for the wheel base width to be the same as implement width?

If it's just for chain clearance I'd stay in the 2" range. Much wider and you could affect the implement coverage/width.

Fighting roughly a foot of snow with just the front (aggressive) chains today. These really affect the ride on pavement (or ground/gravel once you clear the snow)

Tractor struggled up the hill (but managed, we have 20%-30% inclines), could definitely use more traction.

I ran into this same problem this year. I have a kubota L3010 with the same size R4 tires. Instead of paying for spacers your wheels should be adjustable. Cost me $100 in labor to have the local dealer take the wheels off, turn them around and move them to the opposite side giving me the clearance necessary for chains.

..Instead of paying for spacers your wheels should be adjustable....

L3430 is a Grand L and has adjustable rims, show us a photo of the side of the rear wheels. They should have bolts and they can be set in several widths!!!

Trust me they do..On my Kioti I didn't have much more space than that. I took off the tensioner on the inside and instead of using that shackle, used a chain "quick link" instead.

The chain tension is still achieved by the tension link lever on the outside, as it pulls the chain tight up against the tire. I only have 1/2 inch at most of clearance, but it is enough.

All "standard" economical "L" model R4 tires are non adjustable... they do NOT work with chains (so yes, some companies will do it...) My guess is they are trying to make you upgrade to the Grand L...
