I have a John Deere 3005 that puffs light gray/ bluish smoke and runs a little weak for the first 1 or 2 minutes after startup. This occurs at all temperatures, but its more when its colder. The tractor has around 200 hours on it, and after it warms up runs cleaner. Ordinarily I would just assume this is just how the engine is, especially when its cold. The exception is that my dad also has an identical 3005 with 100 hours on it and it will smoke for only 1 or 2 seconds at startup, and seems stronger, sooner. These tractors sit in the same garage right next to one another, so the temperature is the same for both when started. I drained the fuel and replaced it with fresh, thinking it was the problem, but no real change. Any ideas?
