Just finished cutting the lawn with my 2910. This where I find purchasing a 2910 has paid off. It took less than 1 ½ hours to complete cutting a little over 2 acres of lawn. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifHad to slow down some because we have had so much rain the last couple of days. I could not get out and cut it when it should have been done.
My old previous tractor was a 7100 HST. With a 48" mower. It would take over three hours to complete the same area./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif
When I first bought the 2910 thought I may have gotten too big a tractor. Finally settled down and got chainsaw and tree trimmer out. Kept whittling away at tree limbs and shrubs until I could get around without hanging up on the ROP or FEL frame. This was trimming that was probably over due. This spring things look better than they ever have./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
You may have landscaping that will not allow a 72" mower to pass. If that is not a consideration and your time is limited. The 2710 or 2910 would be a good choice.
Below is a copy of Carver Tractor site tips on sizing a tractor and attachements.
Limited time, limited daylight, you'll need enough hp to match implements size to meet the time line of "most do" duties. Examples: mowing, snow removal, feeding, irrigating, watering and material handling.
Whether it's work or hobby, it usually means working a dawn and dusk. Therefore extra lights are needed and very desirable when working alone and after-hours. Especially with a loader, the top mounted lights are able to shine over the top of bucket.
Adjustable work lights are really nice when checking fence lines as you can adjust the work lights to the sides.
For the same reasons a canopy becomes a very good friend on the hottest and wettest days. A fender mounted radio becomes a great friend as well.
The wider the implement, the more area you cover in a given time. This is the match with your timeline and tractor hp. Implement are basically classed in three sizes 4', 5' and 6.'
The general "rule of thumb" is as follows:
4' with tractors up to 30 hp
5' .............................. 30-37 hp
6' .............................. 40 hp +
There are plenty of exceptions Example: Finishing mowers
5' .......up to 22 hp
6' .......... 22-34 hp
7' .......... 34 hp+
And many more.
