Just a reminder for everybody to slip their PTO clutches. I actually had a piece of cedar jam my baler this past weekend and the clutch did not slip. It stopped the whole tractor. I am lucky I didn't break anything. I had no idea what happened. The way it slowed down, etc I thought the engine had lost something.

I fired it back up and the PTO would not turn. I kicked the bale out. Didn't find anything. Then I backed the baler up some and there laid a piece of cedar with some green paint on it. I guess i kicked up that ole cedar limb when I harrow it a month ago or so.

I went to slip my clutch and I figured out it had too few washers in it to be in tolerance. I measured it and put the proper number of washer and I think I am good to go now.

Glad you didn't damage your equipment.

I know the slip clutch on my MF-124 baler pto shaft works OK. Stalled the baler twice last April while baling damp hay with the tension set too high on the output end of the baler.

I don't know how thick the two facings are supposed to be on that clutch, but they look paper thin to me. Need to take it apart and see if there's any facing material left.

I know I slipped mine last season - always a learning experience. I hope I have it dialed in right. I have 65 acres of hay on the ground. Going to start baling Friday night and finish up oN Sat I hope.
