I have a 513 cutter and after eating shear bolts I bought an aftermarket slip clutch. The problem is the shaft on the gear box has a 3/8hole and the new slipclutch is a 1/2 " It acts like a bolt cutter and has even broken grade 8 bolts while cutting grass only. I have tried to drill the shaft with no sucsess, must be case hardened. Today I found some 3/8 to 1/2 bronze bushings and will try the this evening, just wanted to know if anyone has noticed this or knew of a clutch that used a 3/8 hole. John Deere has a clutch for $300 /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Also the clutch must not be adjusted properly or it shouldn't break a grade 8 bolt. No instructions with the clutch on set-up or adjustment. Any ideas?

If I understand correctly, you are still breaking bolts with a slip clutch? If so, yes it needs adjusted. Loosen all the bolts around the circle and get it to slip. Then tighten till no slip. Sometimes they get stuck. First time use in spring it is always good to readjust, they can stick over the winter.

Anyone ever seen a slipclutch with a 3/8 hole to connect to gear box shaft?
