Slime question

May be dumb question, If I were to buy slime at Wal-Mart how do I get it in the tire?

Just remove the valve stem and squeeze it in. I use it in my front tires and it works great. I think the tires need to be tubeless.

Yeah, package directions are pretty straight forward. My problem was the "squeezing" part--thanks to old, slightly arthritic hands. I used a bar clamp to squeeze--stopping occaisionally to let air return to the container--saved me alot of pain.

They do make a Slime product for tube tires as well, I'm using it with great results. No more flats is a very good thing.

The slime bottle comes with a little tube that fits over the valve thread. Just push it on and squeeze gently. Its excellent stuff. Also good are those sticky rubber plugs that look like fat pipe cleaners.

After you use slime, park the tractor with the puncture at the bottom of the tyre for the first few days of use. My experience is that that helps to seal the slime in the hole.

I buy slime in gallon jugs which have a plunge dispenser built into the top - also comes with a metal valve stem remover. I get tons of flats on every wheeled machine I own (hedge and locust thorns). Without Slime, I'd be up the proverbial creek.

As Thunderworks mentions, you need a valve stem remover tool. It is included in the typical 16oz bottle packages along with the tube needed to attach to the valve. Be careful, I recall the valve stem remover is under the cap so don't lose it when you open it. Once you have those two attachments it is pretty easy to load up a tire with slime.

Also I don't think anyone mentioned it. Jack the wheel up off of the ground before taking the valve core out. That way the tire won't unseated from the rim when the air is let out.
