Has any one used these HD drawer slides Drawer Slide, Full Extension, 48 in., Heavy Duty, 5 lb. Capacity, Zinc - Cabinet And Furniture Drawer Slides - Amazon.com or something similar to hang a wall on? I want to conceal a door in my basement (gun room) and have a sliding type wall in front of the door. I am thinking of using 3/4" plywood and mount these drawer guides to the back. Then mount some lightweight shelves or coat rack to the front to make it appear as a wall.
Good Evening JMER817,
Yes I have used them but not in the same application that you are planning.
I have been a volunteer fireman in our town for many years. They wanted to mount a generator in the back enclosed compartment of one of out utility trucks. I ended up mounting the slides to 3/4" by 2" aluminum bar stock, attaching them through the compartment bottom, and then building a platform for the generator to sit on, we could slide the unit out of the compartment to run, and lock in position.
I was pretty impressed with the rugged construction of those slides !
Hope this helps !
