Just watched the skid steer mower video at Mr Jimi's link. Darned impressive piece of equipment. One could have a lot of fun for $8K with that baby.

I am looking for a 3pt flail mower to convert for use with my Toolcat. I plan on fabricating a set of caster wheels for it and an attachment plate that oscillates so the mower can follow the contour of the ground. The Bobcat finish style mower I have does this so I have a good model to work from.

One concern I have with converting a 3pt PTO to hydraulic motor drive is determining the correct output shaft rpm. How did you determine what motor to buy?

dsb,The owner called the tech line at surplus center. He gave the hydraulic specs for his machine.The motor is aprox. 500 rpm at full throttle.Just right for the mower.I put an overiding pto clutch in the short pto shaft to take the shock out of drive line when you cut off the oil flow.Mike
