Tractor
TYM T233 & T293 CAB
So, I’m thinking on ways to secure the tractor on the trailer, and had the thought that I could weld a SSQA plate onto the trailer and clip into it to secure the front of the tractor.

Any thoughts positive or negative would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jigs

I can't tell you why, but in the back of my head I feel like it's a bad idea. However, at face value, it seems like a useful and unique way to secure your machine.

Probably would not pass many state's regulations for securing a tractor load. I would read up on those for your state and also ask someone in the know of those regulations before going to the trouble and cost. I like the way you are thinking though. I've often thought if a guy came up with a slick way to secure a tractor and could get it patented and it would meet regulations, they would make some coin.

I do not think it would pass a DOT inspection as the loader is not firmly mounted to the tractor (hydraulics are not firm). When tying down a piece of mobile equipment it must be tied down on 4 corners. However for a homeowner who would not be inspected it would probably work. I like the idea for a light piece of equipment like a TYM T233.

Dont think its legal.....Check locale/state/DOT laws regarding loads on trailers.... Here is Cali it specifies using 4 tiedown from solid anchor points on tractor (or any vehicle) to anchor points on trailer.... I use four 2,500 lb working 10,000 lb burst ratchet straps left over from my race car days... Easier to deal with than chains and binders... I even added good tie down points to trailer (when using it with race car) because what was supplied from manufacturer was not adequate..... My whole tie down philosophy is I am not going to be the guy beside the road with tractor upside down in the ditch....

I think everyone's covered using the ssqa for securement, in fact using the ssqa to secure an attachment (bucket, forks, etc.)
to the tracktor reqires a separate, additional securement chain in addition to chaining the tractor.

So, you want to weld it against the headgate of the trailer ?

It would require exact alignment to the QA plate or it wont latch. And when the tractor wanders around just a little bit during travel, it will be under tension so you'd need a hammer to unlatch it. It just seems an unpractical idea to me.
