Front-End Loader Skid steer quick attach adapter

/ Skid steer quick attach adapter #61
Hey folks, I finished converting the bucket and painting it Monday night, and yesterday after work, hauled it out to the "Rancho" but after that half-hour drive, it was too dark to mess with unhooking the grapple and testing the bucket, so it's still sitting on the trailer. I tried to take pictures during my conversion, but they didn't turn out too well since all I had was a cellphone camera.
But I wanted to thank everyone here, particularly K0ua, for the input. Without James' "horror story" I'd have never figured out where all those welds were, and would have probably ground much bigger holes in the back of the bucket (oops, went too far once with that 7" grinder) than I did, and would likely still be fighting it. It actually only took me about 4 hours of work, and ten 4 1/2" cutting wheels plus 9 of the 7" wheels to remove the brackets, and as far as "ugly welds"... Well, there is another reason I can't post pictures, too embarrassed to photograph those!
I hope to have time this evening (if I get off work on time) to go out and test the setup.
So, thanks again, I appreciate the help!

Hey I am glad you got it going.. heck it wasn't too bad was it? Don't worry about the welds as long as they are strong and have proper penetration, who gives a rats how they look.. you can always grind and redo if it makes you feel better.. go ahead and post some pictures in the daylight when you get time., they don't have to be close ups. It will give other people inspiration.. .. Take care and I hope you enjoy your "new" bucket.

Alpha Dog ,

One of the TBN members built this setup.

I installed a 2 in ball in the end of one of my forks to move trailers.

J_J,

This is my first post and I thank you for the ball pictures. I have a job to do tomorrow pulling a 15,600 lbs military surplus laundry unit trailer off a delivery trailer with ramps....and trying to control it with my Kubota 3130. Have been scratching my head because of the trailer unit's odd design (weight forward, no tongue jack).

TAG

I need to do this to an LA1002 FEL on a M6800

I'll call the dealer see what they got then I'll shop around. Is there a super heavy duty one? I don't want to loose an ounce of strength from the stock pin on configuration

The arms of a skid steer are much more stout than the arms of a front end loader on a tractor. The skid steer loader generally rests against the frame of the skid steer providing much more support than what the arms alone provide. They can take much more punishment than a tractor loader. I'd think even the best of tractor loaders would be twisted, bent, and ruined by even a small backhoe very easily...

And not to mention you cannot see what you are doing with the backhoe bucket on your tractor, and not to mention you cannot dump the spoils without repositioning your tractor, which is much harder to do than a skid steer, which you can easily "skid" sideways to dump and "skid" back to dig again.

In another one of his post he referenced the $2000 Titan stiff arm backhoe attachment , because he could not afford the Kioti backhoe and subframe. Of course the CE attachments skid steer backhoe weight far too much for the front end of his tractor and of course costs more than the proper Kioti backhoe and subframe.

The stiff arm backhoe would not work good on a tractor.

I would think it would be pretty darn frustrating to use. If you had any serious digging to do.

I think a Paumco shovel attachment would work about as good, and a heck of a lot cheaper. At least you could offset it a bit to maybe see what you were digging.

or if he had $2,000 to spend on a backhoe he could just rent for a while for that kind of money.

Yep, or a mini ex..

I know a guy that rented a John Deere 310 from Sunbelt and drove it over 20 miles to his house:laughing:

I honestly think that stiff arm backhoe even on a skid steer would be pretty useless, digging would be a very slow and irritating process. Far better off renting a large backhoe for a few days or saving up and getting a subframe mount, since there is no rear remotes, hydraulics would need to be installed or a pto pump used.

Yes, it would.
