I currently have a tremedous squealing noise when I raise and lower the boom. The skid has 540 hrs on it and all the joints have been greased at each routine service. It does not appear to be rubbing on the wear bars.

This noise has always been there, but now you can hear it over a half mile away. Has any had this occur before?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Do your hydraulics seem to be ok? Possibly low on oil. Are all of the grease fittings taking grease? I would bet that one is not. I have seen numerous units with the squealing I imagine you are hearing and it is usually caused by a pin not getting grease. Dirt and old grease gets packed into the holes in the pin that allow the grease to come out in the middle of the pin. Removing the pin and clearing out the hole is the only fix.
