Skid plate for BX?

I've read a number of posts recommending skid plates to protect sensitive areas of the BX. I did a search but could not find anything where someone had done such a project. If such a thread exists, could you point me to it? If not, does anyone have photos or suggestions?

My new BX-23 arrived today, and I'm having a hard time staying at the computer instead of being in the seat. The rain helps.

Recommended reading in my book.

Do post your solution when you get it done. I have been thinking of making something that would hook quickly in place using the MMM mounts, but so far it reamains only a gleam in my eye... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

RADAIR:

MY SKID PLATE PROJECT WAS LINKED TO BY THE PREVIOUS POSTS. I MADE A CARDBOARD/PLYWOOD MODEL TO TEST FIT AND TWEAKED IT FROM THERE.
I SEE WHILE REVIEWING THE OLD POST THAT I NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH THE ACTUAL DIMENSIONS.
I AM PRESENTLY AT WORK, BUT I WILL POST THE STUFF IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I FINALLY GOT A DIGITAL CAMERA AND CAN POST A PHOTO OF THE SKID PLATE AS MOUNTED.

I just did my 900 hr. service, and took off the skid plate to service the tractor. As such I got out the tape measure. I am going to try sending a dimension sketch and more pictures of the skid plate.
As I have said in previous posts, make a cardboard templete as a pattern so you can tweek it to fit your tractor.
I have been using this for 2 1/2 years without any problems. (except one expensive one /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif)
Do a search for "Bullet Proof BX" in this forum for the whole story.
Also, I used old firehose as cushioning under the front axle & rear transaxle. A chainlink & turnbuckle hold the rear plate tight to the transaxle.

If you have a angle grinder and welder, it's a fairly easy project.

I'm doing some pasture / yard / tree work this spring and want to protect my BX belly! The skid plate is next on the list..
