I'm thinking about getting a Bobcat Ct 225 (27 hp). I want to know what size bushhog, I have heard to get a 4ft cause a 5ft is to much. And i heard a 5 ft would work, so what do you think. I want a bushhog that won't blog down the tractor.

Not familiar with that tractor is that 27 on the pto? The general rule around here is 5hp per foot so yes you should be fine. I bend the rule and run a 6' on my 28hp (25pto) tractor and it works beautifully.

I have used a 5ft on mine on a couple occasion with out any issue, guess its based on what your cutting and how fast you are trying to go.

I use an old /dull 5' JD on my JD 790 (27 HP), works fine for heavy grass & weeds, haven't had it in "brush" yet. I need to do some work on it & sharpen it up before next year. It was $00, BTW! ~~ grnspot110

You should be fine with either one. Typically everyone uses 5 footers behind 8n's, 9n's 2n's etc. They only make about the same power as you. It just may cause you to have to slow just a tad more in some really heavy stuff vs the 4 footer.

I had this tractor with a 5ft woods brush bull, in the tall (12") swampy grass it gets bogged down in anything but low as well as over any inclines

I have a CT 225 (older 25hp). I have pulled a 5' through high grass and weeds with no problems. I have not tried it in true brush (1"- 2.5"). If you go slow you can probably pull the 5'.

I use a 5 ft kodiak that I bought from Agri supply behind my 225. I have cut grass and brush and it has worked fine. I run it in M and I have never bogged down. Good cutting.

And that's 24 PTO HP...ran a 60" cutter behind my 790 for 5 or 6 years....worked fine.
Before I got the 790, I had a 16.5 PTO HP tractor...that same 60" cutter worked good with that tractor too, although I'd take partial width passes on the really thick brush.
