Side mower attachment?

Has anyone out there built some kind of side mounted mower attachment? I know that doesn't make sense so here is what I would like to do.

I have a large pond that i would like to mow around. I can only get so close with tractor or mower, and weed trimmer is a pain in the butt. I would like to somehow mount a mower to either the front loader or 3pt on the tractor that would say stick out approx. 2 ft beside the tractor and run around the pond to cut the edges.

Any ideas. has anyone made something like this?

Great answer. Also available would be a towable, self powered mower, the type sold to be pulled behind an atv. Often they have a hitch which can be offset.

Put an sideways arm on your bucket or implement and tow your push mower.

I have a 60 inch mid mower on my Kubota, but I also tow a 60 inch Swisher mower slightly offset to mow a 9 foot path. Swisher makes tow behind mowers that are self powered and in various sizes and configurations. They are designed to be towed directly behind or offset on either side. I think this would work well for your requirement and also cut your overall mowing time down. Once in a while I see a used one on CraigsList. Here is a link to their website:
