I've seen sickle bar mowers in two setups ( mayb be more? but I've seen two types ).
1 is the standard.. mid mount.. like on cub/farmall, etc.
2 is in a tow behind or 3pt? setup for another tractor.

Any idea if anyone is still making sickle bar mowers? I currently have a belly mower on my 66' IH cub.. but it is a bit of a drain on the engine. I've learned how to angle it, etc.. and it cuts good now.. just no 'bush-hogging' with it.

I havn't measured.. but am guessing ine is a ? 40" deck.. dunno .

I hear the cubs can run a 60" sickle bar though... just as easy.

Anyone have info on either model? availability/price.. I'm assuming the tow behind is made for tractors with the standard asae 1 3/8 pto.. 540 rpm... not the cubs pto.. which is a smaller spline... which.. I don't even know the rpm of.. go figure...

One of my neighbors has a 3PH sickle bar mower on his JD tractor (not sure which model, but it is a mid size CUT). It hooks up to the hitch and hangs off one side - probably about 60", maybe 72" cut. I think it has a wheel on the end to keep it straight. I've seen it in action and it works great, especially for larger types of weeds. It is reasonably new (maybe five years old?), so I'm sure that you can find them for whatever setup you have. Not sure about cost, but I'm certain they're more than I can afford /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Soundguy,
Evidently you missed the whole recent thread on sickle bar mowers that ended up going into what seemed a dealer [censored] match to me.
But to answer your question, Mark at CC Machinery has them for 3PH. Looked like Ken Sweet had some of the same ones on order, according to his website, but cancelled them for some reason /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Here's a pic of one at CC Machinery Sickle bar mower

Sweets mowers may have the same color scheme but they are not from the same MFG. From a picture taken from his lot you can see his mower is fixed and does not have the float spring or mechanical life as the CCM Super 65.

Inspector, you look like you know the reasons. Do you know? Reasons aren't mentioned on their web site of SweetTractors.
Also, if, according to CCI poster, these two mowers; Sweet mower which was said to be "cancelled" on their web site and CCM sickle mower are two different mowers, is the one KD100 at Agri Supply http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/2000009.htm same as Sweet or CCM sickle mower or another completely different mower?

The mowers that are marked as cancelled on Swett's website were the same mowers that CCI has available. Ken decided to discontinue selling them. As far as the mowers at Agri-Suplly......?? I have no idea which ones they are.

Inspector507,
Absolutely not are Sweet's Super 65's the same as the CCM Super 65. Inspector507, if you will just look at the pictures in the links above, You will see that Sweet's mowers have a fixed frame mower. The CCM mowers have a mechanical sicklebar lift and a spring float. Sweet's mowers do not have these features. There is also an optional hydraulic lift available for the CCM mowers. Comparing Sweet's mowers to the CCM mowers, is like saying a Jinma is the same as a Kubota because they are both made in ASIA.

CCI,
OK..............my apologies........you're right my info was incorrect. From now on I will keep my big trap shut unless I know what is fact.

Looks like not only you, but nobody has any idea here on this forum.

While I was surfing on the net I finally found out where that listed sickle bar mower KD100 etc on their web site of Agri-Supply http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/2000009.htm is being made. I won't give the link of MFG here (a MFG in Turkey) as it's not permitted. But you can easily find it on the net. But it seems that Agri-Supply isn't selling this product although it's listed on their web site. They say on their main page they have more than 20,000 items. So many. But this way, if I list also the items which I don't sell, I can easily claim I am selling more than 100,000 items.

Also, I also found out that, from MFG's page, this sickle mower listed on Agri-Supply is same as those being sold on CCM's web site. Also, interestingly, it looks very similar to the one on SweetTractor's web site which is claimed to be Cancelled.

Why are some links to manufacturers and dealers permitted and others are not???? I don't remember reading any prohibitions on this........

Your signature quote is good and explains somethings.
As for some links are permitted and some aren't; Those links are being paid.

Soundguy you also forgot to mention that the Cub has a counterclockwise rotating pto to. Im looking at a smei mount like an older IHC or JD. Id also lke a 3point model to service a pond bank for a few of our customers.
I found a pair of mid mount Farmall Cub mowers If i can get them resonable Id be glad to split them up. Ive had a mean streak this week and thought of gettin an old combine header and making a 12 foot sickle bar mower to go on dads Yanmar to mow the air ports sericia feilds. THey dont take a great amont of power to run. It wont be too practical but it would cut down the open feild time.

Yeah... I take that for granted now... backwards and faster than 'standard'. I actually saw a rear style rotary cutter for the cub's 'funny' pto once... looked neat.. but not as neat as a standard 3pt sickle bar mower.. etc.

Dad had an uncle with a towed type mower and a Cub he bought one and all the threds and blades were custom to the awkards ness. Also a few months ago a griend and I saw an attachmnt for a cub that was gear box that mounted on a Cubs tail and made the PTO a standard rotation and size. It was a collectors item for sure. I just got another belly mower for my Cub a friend traded it to me. Its a ligher version posibly and old woods but all the hard ware is missing. If I cant find a home for it it will become a side winder mower.
Id like to find out how a Cubs hydraulics are tapped into for a loader I dot want one on that tractor but id like to make another hydraulic lift for it. I think it tapped into one of the plugs on the side and the return goes back to the fill hole on the resevoir.

I know it should be easy to tap into... the hyd pressure line from the pump on my 66 is expose for about 16" easy to get at and tap into.. though pump looks itty-bitty..

Works great for the mower lift though..
