Thanks. I will look into either cutting those 2 metal rods shorter, or just removing that whole front part altogether. I think I will also check with NH on the price of the adapter. If it is cheap that might be the way to go. If this unit sat down at my dads for the last 10 plus years, I don't think he really wants it back anytime soon. He did give me the go ahead to do whatever is needed. Maybe over the winter I will have a project to work on?
