Not enough gun, I’d recommend something that you know will knock it down.

It's time for the OP to stop posting... about 2 hours ago.

Shooting a woodpecker is a federal offense after all.

The FBI is too busy looking for papers. He's safe.

It is doing damage to my house. Should I just shoot it and kill it?
Shoot it. Aim for the center of the body, not the head as it moves too fast to hit. I have helped one meet its maker.

Have you tried contacting your local government wildlife resources?

I had a problem with a protected species once, and the official declared it a pest, giving me the green light to do what I needed.

But they did send an official down to offer mitigation techniques before I took action.

I managed to stay clear of any "issues" that way.

Offer it a decoy or alternate if you must. Here’s what I spotted in the tree-line yesterday. Or bang bang ‼️

Have you tried the plastic owl?
I have to laugh, I remember this thread because I never had a problem with one until the last couple of months.

I went with a plastic hawk.

May have to go up higher with the decoy, not certain, never done this before (not certain how I would keep it on the roof).

I know exactly where he goes to when we come outside when he's on the house, he goe up high in another tree every time.

A rubber snake on the roof might help, also.
