New to the site, and glad to be here. I have been researching mulching business for over a year now, and have gone through all past threads lots of good info! Thought I was set on RC100 w/ gyro head, until I stumbled across Land Clearing Attachments, Excavator Mounted Cutter Heads, Mulcher, Tree Chippper has anyone had any experiences w/ their skid steer head. Salesman said teeth have 4 cutting edges, and can be rotated as the leading edges become worn. Also said they have tooth exchange system where they will give you $10 a tooth exchange, for new tooth at $22, said total price just over 30k. I have talked w/ a guy that is running an RC w/ gyro, and he said he is getting around 200 hrs out of his teeth, I have watched his machine run, along w/ fecon and tushogg heads, and the gyro seemed to be far superior. I am located in East Texas, mixture of hardwoods, and pine, but not much surface rock maybe that is why the teeth are holding up better. Getting back to the topic guy running the gyro said only complaint is hi temp. his machine commonly runs at 220, that seems awfull hot to me, and he blows out the radiator several times a day. I was planning on getting a reversing fan, but shinn's integrated cooler seems like a good idea however it looks like it will probably get clogged being right there on the head. The tooth layout looks good, and uses sharp tools like gyro and timber-ax which is what I want. What do yall think, anybody have one of these?

Hey , yall seen this thing yet? I don't think the coooler is a good idea. l think it would get clogged way too easy. IMHO. somebody go buy one and let us know!:D BTW anyone know how the RCV does against the RC-100 on the mulching playground/battlefield? that is a lot of weight for the HP it seems, any negs?

Shinn sent me a video they were runnin it on the RCV. It is pretty impresive probably cuts better than any head I've seen, but it throws debris like crazy they really need some sort of mulching door, also the finished product was rather large. I dont see why you would use an RCV for mulching biz, it is probably great for dirt work, and loading trucks but you would miss the extra horses spinning a cutting head.

How many teeth are on that head? $22 sounds a lot better than $120 for my magnum! how many hrs are they telling you per tooth average? interesting:cool: T a good rate it will pay itself back in trips to the dentist alone!

Believe there are 44 teeth. Don't know hrs. but this is a number that I have found to vary greatly depending who you are talking to. They do have 4 cutting edges per tooth w/ only 1 edge cutting at a time, so the tooth can be pulled out and rotated 1/4 turn and you have a sharp tooth. They are not carbides, obviously @22 a piece so they ought to have comparable life to gyro-trac. They also give you $10 a piece for used teeth. They are in NC, somebody who lives near there ought to go demo one and give us a report.

Ive seen some video of their excavator mounted cutter heads, and they are bad to the bone! There is a link on their website that has specs on the skidsteer head. It has 2 piston pumps, 60" cutting width, 71" overall, and weight of 3250 lbs! that is heavy! On the video they never raised it higher than a few inches, and w/ good reason! Not sure about the integrated cooler, good idea but does seem like it would clog fairly easy. It flows air from the back of cutter into the rotor's housing, using the air flow created by the rotaing drum. Claimed 500cfm air flow.

Can you send me a link please? I can't find it on their site, all I see listed are heads for 9.5 tons and more machines.

Maybe I'm too picky, but it leaves a bad impression on me when I see a business allow such mistakes as inserting the weight of their product into a table where it is clearly labeled "Overall Height", and then insert that into a document for publishing in print or on the internet. It just seems sloppy to and makes me wonder how sloppy they are with other things, like the product that they produce.

Anyway.. back to the cutter head in question: The max. cutting width is only 48 inches on the smaller head and only 60 inches on the larger one?? And then the darn head apparently weighs 3250 lbs? And the larger one uses two hydraulic motors? Wow.

I wonder how cutting teeth like theirs would work on a 1,000 lb. lighter Fecon BH74SS Bull Hog head?
