I have a 1996 jd 5400 4x4. The tractor won't go into park. The shifter goes over to the park position but has no tesion on it. It's like a pin or something came out cause the shifter wobbles around but won't pull off. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

My first guess would be a broken spring on linkage.

Could be a spring, but its like something else came lose cause it will flop around while driving and you have to hold it just rite to change gears. The shifter is on the rite side of the tractor

My guess would be a broken roll pin#5 in the shift lever pivot ball #4. This pin protrudes from the ball and keeps the lever positioned in bracket #12. Just remove three bolts #14 from bracket 6B to remove the shift lever.

You are correct! I took it apart last nite and the top roll pin was broke. Thanks guys for the info!
