Hi everyone. I have a USG sharpener and a little confused about the angles. For example a stihl 3/8 MS the chart that comes with the machine says 30 deg in the vice and I understand this but it also says set 40 deg for the head for the top plate but most threads I read talk about 60 deg. Note that my machine only goes up 55 deg. Can someone please help me understand these sharpening angles? Thanks so much.

There are 3 angles to consider when filing each cutter. The top plate, side plate, and the cutting angle.

Thank you. I do have that chart which lends to some of my confusion. And most threads refer to 60 deg or more. Now wondering if I should have bought Oregon. Thanks Again Everyone.
