I get it when threads drift but this one has gone a little crazy.
Amen brother, well said.I don't look down on people who don't have much, but I am realistic about why most of them are in that situation. If you make $40,000 a year, you buy a new $1,500 cell phone on credit every year, you buy cars new and only care about the size of the payments, you get drunk every weekend and show up to work broke every Monday, you never invest or save, and you think only of yourself, not your employer, when you're at work, you can't expect great results over the long term.
I needed to have my yard fixed. I called a guy. A man about 30 years old showed up in a nice truck. We looked around the yard, and he told me what we should do. Gave me all kinds of suggestions. Recommended a tree guy.
We hit it off, and he told me about his situation. He's the CEO. He has employees. His net worth (assets minus liabilities, not the cost of the things he hasn't paid for yet) at the time was around a million. He got it by fixing people's yards, expanding his business, and taking risks, like being responsible for hourlies whose biggest risk is getting fired.
He wasn't born to a rich family. Just a regular guy.
I called the tree guy. He was around the same age as the yard guy. He showed up with maybe $500,000 in equipment and a bunch of employees. I gave him $7,500 to work a day and a half. He sat in his expensive grapple loader and gave orders while the hourlies who chose not to start businesses did the hard work.
Blue-collar guy. Didn't have an MBA, law degree, medical degree, or rich dad.
He stepped up. He put himself in the crosshairs. He has to wrestle with creditors, customers, the government, and potential lawsuits from his own employees. He has to do all the planning and marketing. His hourlies go home and smoke dope in front of the TV.
The neighbor across the street has a home that has to be worth a million dollars. There is no way he's over 35. He has a land-clearing business. He is not educated. I see him going in and out all the time with a wheel loader on a trailer.
In addition to his business, he bought and transformed his farm. He cleared a pasture. Cleared his yard. Put up new fences. Build a beautiful pole barn for his equipment. Even keeps pigs and cattle. The pigs are so clean, I didn't know they were there until he told me.
I could tell true stories like this all day.
Tell me more about the haves and their snobbery.
I never get angry at people who have more than I have. God bless them. Most of them deserve it much more than I do. I have things like shelter, roads, medical care, heat, air conditioning, and good food because of them, not because of hourlies. They invented things and patented them. They built factories. They accepted the burdens of leadership. They pay most of my taxes and yours. The hourlies never start anything. They just show up to reap the benefits.
I hope Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos get twice as rich as they are now.
Maybe in some countries, but in Holland, a house is seen as an investment you cant go wrong on. Its the only thing financially stabile Dutchmen borrow for.But most people in Europe rent if I remember correctly,
I know. But living on credit is the opposite of investment !In the US we are mostly forced to invest since our Social Security won't cover the cost of living in most areas.
That would be a "Sharp looking" car if it were truly being brought back! Just like a lot of the old muscle cars looked! But I sure doubt it happening.Probably garbage, like this 2026 AMX. Bored people and photoshop.View attachment 4316549
All the best stuff happens after derailment.I get it when threads drift but this one has gone a little crazy.
Don't worry, the thread is only one good "Hauling or Towing Something Wrong" post from getting back on track. There is an idiot born every minute in this country that will tow something wrong.I get it when threads drift but this one has gone a little crazy.
