If that was for the Amish they must be more liberal there. Here they cannot have a top or be enclosed.

Yours must be what we call the topless Mennonites!

There are a lot of covered Amish or Mennonite buggies up here. Unless it's a utilty wagon there is some sort of cover. Got to keep the ladies out of sight, don't you know.

Where are you located?

In Central New York north of Syracuse, we have MANY Amish. It's not uncommon to see sides and tops on the buggies. Yet, I was under the impression the Amish up here were rather strict traditional and they moved here for cheap farmland and to avoid the more liberal Amish.

As an aside, sadly those buggies and motor vehicles are a bad mix up here. Many accidents...some tragic.

There have been some of those up this way as well. The buggy occupants as well as the horse pulling it always end up on the losing side. Apparently it's sinful to use ornaments of any type, and some of the more traditional members believe that lights and/or slow moving vehicle signs fall in that category.

My favorite headline from upstate NY, where I grew up:
"Amish teens lead police on high-speed buggy chase"

Apparently they had been drinking a bit, and well....you know...o_O

All of them are enclosed around here.
They do have open wagons they use in the summertime, a lot of them have old van bucket seats bolted to them.

Nice looking old corn picker! (y)
This was my first truck, a '68 Pete 352ST with a hopped up 335 Cummins.
I rebuilt it from a basket case I bought for $3K.
