I’m kinda surprised the ramp held. I was debating putting a 3600 pound roller in a 7,000 pound covered trailer and decided against it because I was worried about breaking the ramp. I put a ditch witch on my 7,000 pound open trailer and after bending a ramp and pretty much bottoming out the springs I decided it was a better candidate for my 14k trailer. IMG_9100.JPG

I believe there is no ramp to that trailer,, it is a tilt bed,, drive directly onto the trailer, without ramps.
From the look of the picture, he did not even get the trailer to tilt all the way back to flat.

There is a winch on the trailer,, I would bet the winch has pulled the trailer back towards flat, as much as possible.

I meant the skid steer in covered trailer picture.

Yea, THAT would be hard on ramps, but, the long tracks do a good job of distributing the weight,, that might have saved the ramps,,

Yea I wouldn’t be surprised if my roller would load the ramp worse. But at the point of overloaded the skid steer was I wouldn’t be surprised if it bent the the back of the trailer. 7,000 pound trailers in general are pretty light duty and covered trailers have even less frame.

How much does the trencher weigh? I had a decent size trencher on my 7k trailer no problem, ramps are just a piece of 2x12, although whatever wood it is might be stonger then steel! (I found the boards under leaves in my woods when I bought my house, with no rot!)1064330086.jpeg

They just got the title wrong, its not a makeshift trailer, its just a heavy duty tow dolly!

I wonder how they managed to turn? I could see it trailering okay going straight or even a real slight curve, but a tight turn? Pretty sure there is no turn table on that tilt bed.

About a year ago I saw a guy towing about a 24' gooseneck car trailer with a second vehicle strapped to the dove tail. I wondered then how he turned. It's possible he had a turn table affair but I didn't see one.

You actually could do it by tying it down by the front tires and leaving the steering unlocked.

Or the really sketchy way is just tie it down by the center of the front axle (or frame if its IFS) and lock the steering so it can pivot around the tie down.

That's a pretty good answer. I do think on a tight turn the front wheels would need to shift forward (inside) and backward (outside) even with them unlocked or the rear axle of the motorhome would need to skid sideways which wont happen, but...
