As good a thread as any I guess ..... Are some commercial semis exempt from weigh stations?

I passed one today that was Open. Data scanners out over the roadway to read transponders, but all trucks were entering. Except this one typical 18 wheel tanker truck (nothing outwardly different) sailed right past the entrance. Marked units at the scale didn't come out after him. Unit too busy? Didn't notice him? Some signal via the data system to pass him? Maybe one of those special government loads that isn't supposed to stop anywhere?
They probably have a prepass. It's a little box on the dash that communicates with the weigh station.

We have one in each our semi's at work since our loads are pretty consistent.

If it flashes green while coming up to the station, they can keep going. If it flashes red, then they need to pull in for inspection.

Putting transponders in trucks now with load info. Could have been empty, known light/legal weight or weight recorded at prior station. Many weigh stations have in road sensors and only heavy loads placed on scale for actual weight. Think only military trucks and convoys are exempt at scales.

The transponder has a green and a red light. Red you go in green you stay on the freeway. WA and OR have signs that might up to tell you weather or not you need to go in. Even without a transponder. They have scales in the road and license plate readers.

Cool.

I was kind of wondering if it might have been one of THESE guys .... Office of Secure Transportation - Wikipedia

Didn't see any ominous looking SUVs though.

I think they're supposed to stop for police, but as the officer approaches the cab, instead of the driver getting out, the officer is met by one or more of the escort agents.

Curious why you went with the side mount swing back when the center mount A frame is the same price.

I have to use side mounts on mine and had to add a second one so the tongue wouldn't twist.

Number one reason is that a few cranks and you can pivot the jack up. Also nothing hanging down to catch a curb which is a common hassle when going over the curbs. The tailgate issue hitting the jack has been a issue a few times also. The pivot jack is plenty heavy duty enough without twisting this trailor frame for no more load than the pair of 3500lb axels on the trailor should be hauling. Glad to be rid old bail type latch. As someone pointed out by noticing the hammer blow marks on it to get it to latch.

Unless you took that, I suspect that it's photoshopped.
